Today, it is the norm to critically examine all decisions made in education. Whether it is the implementation of national standards such as common core or state standardized testing, all stakeholders have a voice in improving student learning. In recent years the focus has been on the improvement of teaching, but the shift from teaching to student learning is taking hold with educators across the nation. This change in mindset from teaching to learning is significant and has the potential to change education as we know it. No matter what program, curriculum, or system that is in place, there is variable that we must examine thoroughly and be cognizant of its impact on the learning of our students. The culture of a campus is vital in terms of campus morale for both teacher and student, but it plays a much more significant role in student success that we often acknowledge.
